Brachioplasty/Arm Lift Patient | Age 58

1. Please tell us about the procedure you had done.
Brachioplasty-Arm lift

2. Why did you want to have this procedure?
Have always had larger arms. I gained a lot of weight, then lost a lot of weight. They were still large and very saggy, jiggly, and stretch marked. I was very self-conscious and embarrassed by them.

3. How do you feel about the results?
I love the results. I’m no longer self-conscious of them. I have even worn a short sleeve shirt with no cover-up.

4. How was your experience with Dr. Honeycutt and her staff?
Wonderful. They are all so professional, helpful, kind, and reassuring. Love Dr. Honeycutt, she is so informative, makes you feel so at ease. Very kind.

5. What was your spouse’s reaction?
Can’t believe the difference and how well they have healed and how good the scars look. They think my arms look tiny.

6. What advice would you give other patients looking to get this done?
How helpful they all are. How they make you feel special and not self-conscious. Very reassuring.

7. Would you recommend us to someone else who is in the same situation that you were in?
Yes, most definitely.

8. What did you appreciate most about Advanced Surgical Arts Center?
Not to be afraid of having the procedure done. Listen to the nurses and Dr. Honeycutt about what to expect and follow their advice before and after surgery.  Know that it is so very well worth it.

Breast Augmentation for Breast Asymmetry Patient | Age 37

1. Please tell us about the procedure you had done.
I had a breast augmentation to increase size and improve noticeable difference in cup sizes.

2. Why did you want to have this procedure?
I have wished for this procedure for almost ten years, due to large areolae, for breast size and difference in cup size. After losing significant amount of weight, the loss of a cup size bothered me even more.

3. How do you feel about the results?
The results pleased me within the first week. Although I understood shape, posture, etc. would continue to change, I was already excited about having done the procedure.

4. How was your experience with Dr. Honeycutt and her staff?
Dr. Honeycutt and her staff were amazing to work with. Never once did I feel I didn’t have the information I needed or wanted. I was always made comfortable from consultation, pre-op through post-op, and through all follow-up appointments.

5. What was your spouse’s reaction?
My spouse was supportive the entire time. He said he noticed my confidence rise almost immediately after the healing process was complete.

6. What advice would you give other patients looking to get this done?
I would suggest to research the procedure, this helped me understand what I wanted to achieve, if it was realistic, the amount of time (and healing time) required, different options available, and what to expect afterwards-all before even setting up a consultation.  This helped me listen to the information given without feeling overwhelmed and being able to ask questions that I felt were highly important.

7. Would you recommend us to someone else who is in the same situation that you were in?
I would absolutely recommend this office to someone interested in the procedure I had. I was extremely pleased with my results and now wish I would have done it much sooner!

8. What did you appreciate most about Advanced Surgical Arts Center?
I appreciated the knowledgeable and caring staff that worked with me during each appointment. I never once felt uncomfortable and believe this may resulted from an all-female staff. They led through every step with grace and respect.

I love them and I’m very satisfied.

4. How was your experience with Dr. Honeycutt and her staff?
Really good. All the ladies are very nice and understanding.

5. What advice would you give other patients looking to get this done?
When you look in the mirror and you don’t like what you see, get it done. Don’t wait so long like I did. I wish I would have done this 5 years ago.

6. What did you appreciate most about Advanced Surgical Arts Center?
How personable Dr. Honeycutt and all the staff were. They made me feel very comfortable.

7. Would you recommend us to someone else who is in the same situation that you were in?

BRCA Gene/Breast Reconstruction | Age 33 | Name: Breanna

1. Please tell us about your cancer diagnosis?
I, myself, have never been diagnosed with cancer however my mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer 3 times and eventually lost her battle in June 2011. During this time I watched her overcome and struggle thru several medical procedures leading me to get tested for the BRCA mutation. I came back BRCA positive and the road to having control over cancer had started.

2. Why did you want to do breast reconstruction?
I felt I had taken great steps to prevent cancer after an elective double mastectomy but I also wanted to restore my confidence in myself and my body. I wanted to feel great in clothes just as I had before and also return as much normalcy to myself after such a big decision.

3. How do you feel about the results?
The results have been amazing! I truly forget they are not my own breasts. They give me all the confidence I was hoping to have. I do not feel discomfort or pain of any kind.

4. How was your experience with Darcy Honeycutt and staff?
Darcy Honeycutt is truly a wonderful surgeon and medical provider. Darcy and her staff always took the time to answer any questions I had and address any concerns that came up throughout my healing process. Darcy was very open with me about the surgical process and the potential outcomes. I really felt like she was going thru the procedure with me. Darcy and her staff are the best cheerleaders any patient can ask for.

5. What advice would you give other patients going through breast reconstruction?
Allow yourself time to heal and grieve the loss of your breasts when and if those feelings come. The process of expanders and the actual reconstruction can be trying but remember the outcome is definitely worth waiting for.

Follow all healing instructions exactly as stated and don’t try to overdo any physical activity.

6. What did you appreciate most about Advanced Surgical Arts Center?
Their follow up care after any procedures is awesome. They are so caring and kind and make phone calls to check on your progress. They are so willing to give suggestions to make recovery as simple and pain free as possible.

7. Would you recommend us to someone else who is in the same situation that you were in?
I most definitely would recommend Darcy Honeycutt and staff. I was treated with respect and encouraged the entire time. I had a few setbacks but Darcy and her staff were by my side the entire time and I know that positivity kept me going and helped in the recovery. The results are so much more than I ever expected.

Abdominoplasty Patient | Female | Age 54

1. Please tell us about your produce you had done.
I recently had an abdominoplasty-commonly known as a “tummy tuck”.

2. Why did you want to have this produce?
I choose to have an abdominoplasty because though diet and exercise I had lost 230 pounds and had kept it off for more than 2 years. As a result of my drastic weight loss I had a large amount of extra skin and a “flabby” belly. So much so that I was having issues with how clothes fit and if I’m to be very honest all the extra flab was getting in the way during exercising. I thought about how to proceed for a whole year before deciding to just go for it.

3. How do you feel about the results?
I had my procedure done only a few weeks ago, but I am already wildly happy with what is happening. I no longer have folds of extra skin to contend with or try to hide. As the swelling continues to subside I fully expect the look of my belly to get even better.

4. How was your experience with Dr. Honeycutt and her staff?
I found Dr. Honeycutt and all of her staff that I dealt with to be very open, warm, friendly, and caring. I also found Dr. Honeycutt to be extremely knowledgeable and very meticulous and a skilled surgeon. They all answered all my questions and calmed any fears I may have had.

5. What advice would you give other patients looking to get this done?
I know everyone has heard this before but it bares saying it again. Follow every bit Dr. Honeycutt instructions to a “T” for both pre and post op. She is the expert and knows what she’s talking about. One other little bit of advice for post-op is to get out and walk, the sooner and the more the better. I personally found the more I walked the better I felt.

6. What did you appreciate most about Advanced Surgical Arts Center?
Besides the beautiful facility, the best part of ASAC is the people. Absolutely every person I dealt with was very accommodating and helpful and made me feel like I was their only patient and very special.

7. Would you recommend us to someone else who is in the same situation that you were in?
I would whole heartedly and without reservation recommend ASAC and Dr. Honeycutt. I would say if you’re thinking about having a tummy tuck, just go for it! You’ll be pleased with the changes.

Breast Cancer Patient| Name: T.T. | Age 43

This patient came to us after having Breast Reconstruction Surgery with another doctor and wasn’t pleased.

1. Please tell us about your cancer diagnosis?
In December of 2014 I had an abnormal mammogram. Both the radiologist and the consulting surgeon recommended waiting 6 months to have a 3D mammogram done with Dr. Ruhland. I waited the 6 months. My appt was June 29th, 2015. That day I had the 3D mammogram and ultrasound which confirmed I had 2 abnormal masses in my left breast, and one of the masses was fairly large. The following week had MRI and biopsy’s done. The biopsy results came back cancer specifically Ductal Carcinoma InSitu. Due to the size of 1 of the masses being large and because there was 2 my surgeon recommended a mastectomy. With my family history of breast cancer and a positive BRCA genetic test, I choose to have bilateral mastectomies.

2. Why did you want to do reconstruction?
Being diagnosed with breast cancer at 42 it was important to me to have natural and balanced appearance to my breasts.

3. How did you feel about the results of your first reconstruction?
From the beginning I was unhappy with my results. My implants were asymmetrical, my left side was higher than my right and it was over into my armpit. I would experience pain continuously with my left implant. My right side was better positioned then my left, but was not in the pocket. As many breast cancer survivors know choosing to remove your own breasts is a difficult one. And for me personally I struggled with my decision especially after my surgery. When I would put on a shirt without a bra and see how uneven my breasts were I was devastated. I tried wearing a bra, it fit so improperly I would have more pain than without one and you could still see the asymmetry. I told myself and others that if this would be the final result I wished that I would never had reconstruction surgery. I regretted my choice in my original plastic surgeon.

4. How did your experience with Dr. Honeycutt and Advanced Surgical Arts Center differ from the first experience?
The contrast between experiences is like night and day. My original plastic surgeon spent little time with me or no time at all. He never even bothered to see me in the hospital after my surgery, my appts with him would last 15 minutes or less. I was continually told to ‘wait and see’. Come back in 6 months and after several months it was quite obvious that nothing was going to change nomatter how long I waited. My initial consultation with Dr. Honeycutt was quite the opposite. She spent almost an hour with me discussing my history and reviewing my concerns. For the first time I felt as though my needs were relevant, she understood and wanted to help me put the pieces back together again and feel some resemblance of normal. I left her office that day with hope.

My surgery date was Sept 29th, the minute I arrived the staff was compassionate and professional. Before surgery Dr. Honeycutt again met with me to discuss my surgery and go over any concerns I had. That evening Dr. Honeycutt herself called me at home, the following day her nurse called me in the morning. During my post-op appt she let me know that I would be seeing her quite often to monitor my progress. Dr. Honeycutt’s staff from the front office to her nurses strive to make a difference.

5. How are the early results of this revision?
As soon as the dressings came off, I was delighted to see my breasts were symmetrical. The pain that I was experiencing with my left implant is gone. My bras now fit properly. When wearing a shirt with no bra my breasts are even. I’m overjoyed. I haven’t felt this normal since my diagnosis.

6. What advice would you give women who are contemplating breast reconstruction?
When 1st diagnosed for me it felt like I was rushed into decisions. With every appointment came more decisions. Choose your plastic surgeon wisely, give yourself time to make an educated choice. Don’t be afraid to tell your surgeon you want to consult with at least 2 if not all the choices for a plastic surgeon. I know I felt as though I just wanted it to be over and done. But if I would have just taken the extra time and met each plastic surgeon I would have saved myself at least 2 surgeries and quite a bit of emotional suffering.

Visit with breast cancer survivors about their experience with reconstruction surgery and surgeon. Looking back I kept my diagnosis very quiet. I regret not opening up and asking a past survivor about her experience and who she would recommend. Don’t feel guilty about wanting your breast implants to be pain free and symmetrical. I know when I was thinking about getting a 2nd opinion I kept thinking I should just be happy with what I have, we all do it. Don’t settle, make appointments for consultations.

7. Would you recommend us to someone else who is in the same situation that you were in?
I would definitely recommend Advanced Surgical Arts Center to anyone contemplating breast reconstruction/revision surgery. Dr. Honeycutt is caring and a consummate professional. I’m very thankful to her and her team at Advanced Surgical Arts Center for their impeccable attention to every detail. I’m overjoyed with the results of my revision. They have made a difference in my recovery.

8. What did you appreciate most about Advanced Surgical Arts Center?
The knowledge and professionalism that Dr. Honeycutt and her staff have to offer. When meeting with Dr. Honeycutt I appreciated her vast expertise on breast reconstruction and revision surgery.
