Meet Dr. D’Arcy Honeycutt

Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Honeycutt has been in private practice since 1994. She is one of only a few female plastic surgeons in North Dakota, and as a woman she brings a unique perspective to the practice of cosmetic and breast surgery.

Credentials

After graduating from Rice University, the “Harvard of the South”, Dr. Honeycutt completed medical school and a rigorous general surgery residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch. She then performed original research as a Fellow at the Shriners Burns Institute. She completed her plastic surgery training at the well-respected University of Kentucky where she trained under Dr. Edward Luce, the past president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. She has completed 13 years of medical school, residency, and research but continues her education by attending seminars to master the latest techniques in cosmetic surgery. She has achieved recertification in BOTH General Surgery and Plastic Surgery and participates in the ongoing maintenance of certification (MOC). She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Honeycutt has written a funded research grant, authored many scientific articles, and made national presentations. Dr. Honeycutt is a past chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. Alexius Hospital. She is the past Chairman of the Credentials Committee, and a former member of the Executive Committee.

 

Private Practice

Dr. Honeycutt enjoys a busy breast surgery practice and has a particular interest in facial cosmetic surgery and body contouring. She and her all-female staff have a private and confidential, fully accredited, Class C operating suite that is recognized as an ambulatory surgery center. ASAC has been accredited by a national organization – AAAASF. The operating and recovery suite meets most of the safety standards of the nearby hospitals. It also offers office procedure rooms on-site. The office of Advanced Surgical Arts Center is well appointed, relaxing with fresh flowers, a pleasant aroma and a beautifully modern but comfortable reception area. You will feel immediately at ease, as if you are visiting a friend’s living room.

Practice Philosophy

Dr. Honeycutt, her staff, and her experienced nurses are personable, caring, and understanding. They emphasize patient education and preparedness, and they achieve excellent results with this team approach. This is reflected in their 97% patient satisfaction rate. Many patients return for additional procedures and also refer their friends.

Community Involvement

Dr. Honeycutt is on staff at UND, and she has taught medical residents, physical therapy students and surgical technology students. She helped develop the national certifying exam for surgical technologists. She has been active in the local Chamber of Commerce. She has just joined the Bismarck-Mandan YMCA Board of Directors. She is active in her church. She is former ten year board member of the Bismarck- Mandan Symphony Orchestra. She enjoys speaking engagements and is a former President of a Toastmasters Club. Dr. Honeycutt has achieved the highest rank in Toastmasters International, The Distinguished Toastmaster. Dr. Honeycutt has raised money for her alma mater, Rice University, and she coordinates and conducts Rice alumni interviews for high school applicants for the region.

Personal

Dr. Honeycutt is happily married to Lee Schwartzmann, of Schwartzmann Trucking, out of Richardton, ND.  She was previously married to the late Thomas Spagnolia, a long time Bismarck neurosurgeon, and they had two children. She enjoys the beautiful, wide-open North Dakota landscape. Her home overlooks the majestic Missouri River. She enjoys hiking and underwater photography. She completed the 2013 Ironman world championship in Kona, Hawaii- a bucket list dream. She is planning on getting her pilot’s license. She also hopes to reactivate the Bismarck Astronomy Club.
